Powder coatings are a new kind of products for Russian Coatings Corp. These materials are novel both for paintwork industry and industrial customers as the process of powder coatings production requires spreading in Russia yet. Consumption of powder coatings in Europe accounts for more than 12% of the total consumption of paintwork materials. In Russia this figure struggles to come to 1.5%.

To launch the production of powder coatings Russian Coatings Corp. had to set up a new manufacturing operation, purchase modern equipment and introduce innovative technologies which are entirely different from traditional ones. In 2003 the level of investment in construction of the new plant in Yaroslavl Region amounted to more than 2 million dollars. The new shop was built, i.e. a production site for the new plant, equipment was purchased and as early as the summer the initial batch of powder coatings was produced. In 2004 the first production line with capacity of 1,5 – 2 thousand tons is to be put into operation. Later on its capacity would be increased to 5 – 6 thousand tons a year.

Powder coatings are applied by means of electrostatic precipitation on the surface being painted and ensure more flexible coating as compared to conventional enamels. Besides they are more cost-effective in decorative or protective coatings of a wide range of surfaces.

Powder coatings are used for General Industrial, Automotive, Construction, Agricultural as well as Domestic Appliance and Sport Equipment applications. Powder materials possess high durability, lasting quality and have minimum impact on the environment.
